Remembering My Name: A Poetic Journey of Becoming is a poignant and introspective poetry collection that chronicles the journey of a Queer Black Femme's experiences with depression, healing, and self-actualization through writing. Jade Daniels brings a refreshing and unflinching voice to the 2nd edition of her first full length collection and offers readers a deeply reflective exploration of pain, wellness, and the reclamation of self. The collection unfolds across four parts, tracing Jade's movement from the suffering of her mental health in her early twenties towards the evolving and forming of her identity, political consciousness, and spirituality. Each poem serves as a stepping stone towards recovery, as she examines her traumas and addictions, unapologetically confronts the societal structures that perpetuate her struggles, and works to embrace a sacred inheritance. This book is a testament to the resilience of spirit and the radical healing that comes from embracing one's true self and remembering the power of their own name.
