D. S. Bertolo was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, but has been a resident of Knoxville, Tennessee, for the last 15 years. He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Hospitality and Tourism management. Since he was 16 years old, Bertolo has been working in various restaurants and venues, with a few of those years being in management. He lives a quiet life with his wife and two cats.
