Due to increase in the utilization of concrete in construction sector, the need for river sand has been increased enormously. Limitations have been laid on the large scale mining of rivers and from river beds. In this context there was a need to consider an alternate solution to prevent erosion of river bed. Sea sand which is present in abundance and copper, a metal with high toughness property is considered for replacement. The increase in percentage of copper slag has significantly increased the compressive strength but the tensile strength is found to be reduced.
