Spencer M. Punnett II is the author of Representing Clients in Mediation:A Guide to Optimal Results (ABA Publishing, 2013), a research-based book that has been praised as "the current standard mediation field manual for every litigator" (Hon. David Torrey, writingin Lex and Verum). A former litigator, he is certified by the Florida Supreme Court to mediate civil disputes at the Circuit Court and County Courtlevels. His law degree is from NorthwesternUniversity School of Law, where he served as an editor of the Law Review andwas awarded the school's Lowden-Wigmore Prize for Legal Scholarship. He is a former equity shareholder in Carlton Fields P.A., an AmLaw 200 law firm currently with six locations throughout Florida, plus offices in Atlanta, Hartford, Los Angeles, New York, and Washington, D.C. He speaks fluent Spanish, with a certification in oral proficiency from the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages. He has been active in the American Bar Association for many years, where his leadership appointments have included: Editor-in-Chief of Litigation News; Co-Chair of the Litigation Section's Book Publishing Board; advisory board member of the ABA Commission on Disability Rights (then called the ABA Commission on Mental and Physical Disabilities). He is also a former Chair of the Dispute Resolution Section's Standing Committee on Webinars and Distance Learning.
