Early in the 20th century, the advent of industrial research councils brought organized research, development, and technological innovation to North America. Such organizations, now usually referred to as research and technology organizations (RTOs), focused on research and development aimed at helping industry develop and advance, and they were critical to the evolution of the modern approach to technological innovation. One of Canada's first RTOs to be established was the Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC), and it has become one of the most enduring. This book traces the evolution of SRC from its first efforts in the 1930s, through several distinct eras comprising its re-start mode in the Early Years (1947-1955), its Building Years (1956-1972), Maturing Years (1972-1983), Commercial Years (1983-2000), and New Millennium Years (2001-2017).
