In light of the post accident increase in brain tumor incidence, among the human world, there is increased use of 99mTc radiopharmaceutical in dosimetry. This research were performed the estimation of the internal radiation absorbed dose due to administration of some radiopharmaceuticals of Tc-99m. The patients were given 3-15mCi intravenously 99mTc injections. In this research the radiation absorbed dose has been calculated for 99mTc-pertechnetate, 99mTc-DTPA, 99mTc-DMSA and 99mTc-MDP which are used frequently for functioning test of disordered organs and therapeutic treatment of thyroid,…mehr

In this research the radiation absorbed dose has been calculated for 99mTc-pertechnetate, 99mTc-DTPA, 99mTc-DMSA and 99mTc-MDP which are used frequently for functioning test of disordered organs and therapeutic treatment of thyroid, kidney, renal function and bone in Bangladeshi patients. Absorbed dose in brain for each radiopharmaceutical has been calculated by applying time-exposure rate relations. The absorbed dose of 99mTc radiopharmaceutical by brain found in sample patients was in the range (7.93-18.85)_ 10-5 mGy per MBq. The value is good fit with the provided data of ICRP Publication 71.
