Research ethics committees (RECs) play an important role in the construction and development of scientific knowledge in research involving human beings. In Brazil, according to data from the National Research Ethics Commission (Conep), there are more than 700 RECs, all created to defend the interests of research participants and to contribute to the development of studies within ethical standards. In this context, the main objective of this work is to analyze the contributions of the Research Ethics Committee of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Paraíba (CEP/IFPB) to the construction and development of scientific knowledge at the institution. This book seeks to present theoretical aspects related to research ethics committees; describe the history of CEP/IFPB; verify its general operating conditions and trends; and characterize its research protocols. This book is aimed at research students, teachers and other professionals in the field of research whocarry out studies involving human beings in any area of knowledge.
Autorenporträt
(1) Genésio José da Silva has a degree in Social Communication from UFPB and a specialist degree in Public Management from IFPB. He has been secretary of the CEP/IFPB since 2012. (2) Maria Luiza da C. Santos has a degree in Psychology and a master's and doctorate in Administration from UFPB. She teaches on the Administration course at IFPB and has been a member of CEP/IFPB since 2011.
