In the context of reservoir characterization and oil field development, determining the well locations that maximize cumulative oil production is an important problem. A variety of optimization methods can be used to find the optimum well locations in the reservoir. The Platina field is located towards the northwest corner of block 18, approximately 11 km west of the Galio field. The Platina segments are located around an inverted salt-cored collapse graben, with oil trapped in turbidite channel sands in combination structural / dip closure traps. The discovery well Platina-1 was spudded on January 31, 1999 and was declared a commercial well on April 29, 1999. This report describes the key elements of the subsurface description, construction of the reservoir models, the resultant simulation profiles and the development plan for Platina. Reserves are quoted in this document to 20 years of production based on the standalone field simulation models. The base case reserves for Platina are based on a linking Platina at the appropriate time to the Greater Plutonio linked eclipse simulator model.
