Resilience is a topic that has been studied over the years and focuses on the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties. In the past 15 years, there has been a growing interest in resiliency and its impact on adolescents that have grown up in the foster care system. This is coupled with the fact that adolescents that grow up in the foster care system have a higher probability of attaining lower levels of education beyond minimum requirements. Resilience and academic success were examined within a foster care group that had never been studied before in the literature. The group examined Bermudian adolescent foster care children in the Public School System and their perspective on how resilient they were and how this could influence their reading and math ability. The results revealed a positive relationship between resiliency and reading.
