Tourism, marked by the covid 19 epidemic, has undergone profound changes at a global level. The almost zeroing of the tourist demand in Italy, in the months of the lockdown, is shown by the data recorded by the presences in the hotel and extra-hotel accommodation facilities. The paper, which aims to study the ability of non-hotel accommodation facilities in Sicily to react to the effects of the pandemic, is structured mainly in two parts. The first part analyzes the development of tourism and the trend recorded in recent years, and then focuses on the numbers and data for 2020 and the measures taken in this regard. The second part focuses on the extra-hotel accommodation facilities and the related regulatory framework in Sicily. The originality of the thesis is linked to the survey conducted on a certain number of structures which will give their own example of resilience, or not, in response to the negative effects of an unprecedented crisis, going to determine and record data hitherto unexplored.
