Challenges are inevitable. How we respond to them displays our resilience. Why do some people appear to be better equipped to face and recover from different types of trials? Whether physical, mental, or emotional, stress is ever present in our lives. Our stability comes from where we anchor our support-will it be a tent or a stronghold in a storm? David wrote in Psalm 18:2 (NKJV), "The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust." In Resilience: Rising Above Life's Challenges, author Lisa Milliken shares some of her own life challenges as well as other examples as she provides strategies for how to recover from trials and move forward. In each scenario, using research and biblical sources, we learn about the resilience that can come from our hardships if only we anchor our hope in Jesus Christ. "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." -Jeremiah 29:11
