This book provides strategies of agricultural development in Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh. The study made use of both primary and secondary data for analysis, drawing inferences and arriving at conclusions. Schedules specifically designed for the study have been canvassed through personal interview. For the collection of primary data, a multi-stage random sampling frame was used. Besides simple averages and percentages, compound growth rates have been computed in order to study the long-run rate of growth in the area, production and yield of important crops viz., rice, wheat, cereals, food grains, groundnut and sugarcane in India and Andhra Pradesh and rice, sugarcane and groundnut in Chittoor district. Farm business income resource use efficiency and returns to scale were estimated in the study, Factors influencing the area, yield and production of major crops were identified through efficiency analysis. Marginal productivity information of inputs used in the major crops was indicated the need for readjustment of resources.
