Bob L. VandeLinde is a combat veteran having served with the 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team in Korea 1950-1951. His two combat jumps were on October 20, 1950 at Sukchon, north of the capitol city of Pyongyang; and the second was on March 23, 1951 at Munsan-Ni. He participated in the major battle at Wonju on February 14, 1951. Bob was awarded the "Paratrooper of the Half Century" in 2006 by the Blue Ridge All American 82nd Airborne Division Association. He is a graduate of Hamlin High School and Marshall University; and retired from Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society, Omaha, Nebraska. Bob met Jean Ella Vickers after he returned to West Virginia from Korea in 1951. They were married March 6, 1952. They have two sons, Terry L. VandeLinde, who lives in Roanoke, Virginia and Marvin "Marty" VandeLinde who lives in Charlottesville, Virginia; six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Bob and Jean live in Moneta, Virginia
