Maxillofacial defects can be treated by surgical reconstruction or prosthetic Rehabilitation. The Prosthodontist has a major role in maxillofacial prosthetics because of his knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology as well as his skill and experience in using materials that are compatible with the patients remaining tissues. A prosthodontist, with his or her skills and experience, has to decide the best mode of retention possible for a maxillofacial prosthesis to improve patient's quality of life.
