The debate on self- determination issues remains mostly theoretical, and in the domain of international law and international politics. Not many people diverted their attention towards the lively self- determination debate unfolding within the republics of former Yugoslavia at the time, this is usually mentioned only on the sidelines of scholarly works. Virtually none of them based their research in this area on actual statements of political actors in former Yugoslav republics. In this respect this is a groundbreaking work in this specific area. It provides reach historical evidence of the debate actually taking place in Serbia at the very moment events unfolded. It gives exclusive insight into the rationale that Serbian politicians offered to justify their actions, and discusses probable behind the scene political motivation of most important politicians in Serbia from the period.
