Redemption is a story designed to point out how rape is mismanaged in the United States. It describes how rape cases are handled by the legal profession and judges. One victim's father wins the New York State Lottery the day his daughter dies after she is raped and murdered. He uses the lottery winnings in a rather unusual way to attempt to get the attention of anyone who could affect change in how convicted rapists are handled. After Mr. Hepp handles several rapists, he realizes that innocent people were being hurt. He still thinks that more needs to be done to solve the problem. He finally ends his life in a very dramatic fashion. His wife continues to try to solve the problem. Redemption, although fiction, is an attempt to bring to the public's attention the problems rape brings to society.
