Integrated transportation planning is perquisite for the development of any country. The study was taken to analyze the exiting transportation conditions in terms of accessibility and analyzing the effectiveness of the Strategic Transport Plan (STP)for Dhaka City. At present car use is increasing at an alarming rate in Dhaka city. More private cars, means more pollution (noise and air), more road space consumption than by rickshaws. But rickshaws are cheap, safe, environmentally friendly and popular mode of transport over short distances. To solve transportation problem of Dhaka City a number of policy and strategies are undertaken but the problems are not solved yet. Considering existing situation of Dhaka City this research focused to evaluate the performance of rickshaw and private car, and also to identify and evaluate the aspects that may solve the existing transportation problems of Dhaka city.
