The forest environment plays a significant role in curing and treatment of various diseases. Lastly, the tenents of social change in this forest clad environment where various tribal groups are living with their demarcated territorial area are discussed to understand the reason of present social unrest.

Dr. (Mrs.) Samira Desgupta (Born : 1953) is a M.Sc., Ph.D (Science) in Anthropology from the University of Calcutta. She has specialized in Cultural Anthropology and has noteworthy contributions are on culture ecology, role and status of tribal women in unorganized sector. She has published seven books and about eighty-five research papers.
