Ride the Wild Wind, Book II - Sheriff Robert Gallegos - the Witch's Grave, is a sequel to Book I - Sheriff Robert Gallegos - Friends and Enemies. However, it's a stand-alone book, like the first, mystery, murder, love, loss, life, new friends, new enemies, in this fictional southwestern rural town and county, circa 1965, who live in, or pass through, or threaten this home-town in southwestern New Mexico. Like Brigadoon, Aragón Valley is there, it's inhabitants revolve around the hub who is the Mexican-American, Native American, ex WWII Marine, now their sheriff - it's there if you believe it's there. Exciting, fun, sensuous, kind, multi-cultural, tough - like the Rio Grande, and the wild wind that kicks up the red dirt, and the monsoons that turn the dirt in red mud - Aragón Valley - its friends and enemies, it's angels and witches, will keep you reading and make you wish you were there.

Autorenporträt
The author of "Code of the Running Cross - An Erin Kelly Mystery", Josephine Ashton has been writing since childhood - plays, poetry, songs, reportings for community newspaper and stories for not-for-profit newsletters, as CJ Carroll, or Claudia Carroll, as well as several books for children. Writing her second novel, "Ride the Wild Wind," Ms. Ashton opted for an AKA, and will author future book with this pseudonym. "Ride the Wild Wind - Sheriff Robert Gallegos - Friends and Enemies" is currently in process with a publishing company, with, likely, a fall release. In Both "Code of the Running Cross" (circa 1930, 1990'ies, early 2000's) and "Ride the Wild Wind (circa 1940ies and 1965) have protagonists who live in New Mexico, but whose interests, challenges and love affairs stretch beyond the borders of both that state and the United States, involving them internationally. While Ms. Ashton has recently completed a sequel (perhaps the second in a continuing series) of "Ride the Wild Wind," this one with the subtitle, "Sheriff Robert Gallegos - the Witch's Grave," she is considering a sequel to "Code of the Running Cross," focusing again on the Taos, New Mexico based character, Erin Kelly, a photographer who finds herself photographing, at times, that which was meant not to be seen, and thus, trouble follows. In both Ms. Ashton's novel, there is a cast of characters that a reader may need help with to follow, so her books include an appendix where the characters, ages, and some relationship are noted. Hers are story about "communities," both locally and internationally, brought together by unusual circumstances, with unsuspected enemies, and unexpected hero-heroines. Currently, Ms. Ashton's books, with the exception of the Ride the Wild Wind-Book I, now with a publisher, can be found on several on-line bookseller sites and on her independent publishing site: lulu.com/spotlight/cjcarrollbooks.
