Right to Kill is a contemporary mystery with suspenseful moments and provocative political overtones. This third novel in The Kinler Mystery Series has former FBI agent turned private eye, Matt Kinler and his wife, Anna, tangled in a dangerous battle over right-to-work laws opposed by public employees' unions. A grieving widow, unwilling to accept accident as the cause, challenges Matt to find her husband's killer. The trail leads Matt to Marion Walters, the elderly director of the right-to-work movement. The embattled lady must meet a deadline in her effort to gather thousands of signatures to put her measure on the ballot for Oregon voters. She schools Matt on how progressive politicians have stacked the deck against citizens who wish to petition their government. He soon discovers cozy ties between corrupt government officials and leaders of the unions. After thousands of signatures are stolen, and Walters lies unconscious in the hospital's intensive care unit, Anna and Matt must protect Walters from ruthless enemies. While a terrified secretary struggles to save the ballot measure, Matt faces men who'll stop at nothing to keep right-to-work off the ballot; and a political power broker who believes he has the right to kill. Matt is joined by his partner, Allen Mann, as they rush to identify a killer and find a bomber before he strikes again. This fast-paced mystery is packed with suspense and action as Matt, Anna and Allen encounter murderers, arsonists, bombers and drone-flying extortionists. As with other novels by John Lawe, the main characters have Christian worldviews and those views impact how the characters react to events. He uses violence when necessary to advance the plot, but doesn't use sexual content. Readers who have enjoyed the relationship between Matt and Anna in his previous tales won't be disappointed here.

Autorenporträt
John Lawe lives in Oregon's Willamette Valley with his wife. During his twenty-four year career as an FBI agent, he investigated a variety of cases to include public corruption, fraud, kidnapping and extortion. In retirement, he has worked as a private investigator and a cold case detective. His interest in writing developed during his years as an Alaskan homesteader. Mysteries and spy thrillers are his first choice when reading fiction. Vince Flynn, Brad Thor and Robert B. Parker are among his favorite authors. Parker's dialogue, his standard. Lawe likes to say, "I don't write Christian mysteries, I create mysteries with Christian characters." He draws on his past experience to create thrilling crime stories with mystery, suspense, faith and a subtle humor.
