Boston newspaper reporter Ariella Richardson always wanted to cover health and science. Suddenly her editor gives her a chance to interview top cancer researcher, Sam Becker, the very same day a murder story breaks at the medical center. As she digs into his research, Ariella finds herself intrigued by Sam and drawn into his life, past and present, finding out more about his secrets and tragedies than she ever expected. Set in the early 1990's Ariella's story takes her through the neighborhoods of Boston as she meets a colorful array of professionals and patients connected with the hospital, and her reporting propels her into funding scandals and even the murder case that has transfixed the city. Caught between curiosity and caution, she sees that the journalism she loves can hurt and even endanger her friends, and as news stories take on a life of their own, she must face decisions about love, ethics and who she wants to be.
