Lee E. Cart is an award-winning author, editor, and publisher for Ek' Balam Press. Her first novel, Born in the Wayeb, was a winner in the 17th Annual International Latino Book Awards, which celebrates worldwide achievements in Latino literature. Ms. Cart lives in central Maine, but lived in Guadalajara, Mexico for over seven years as a child. The time spent in Mexico created a deep love for the Mexican people and their various cultures. Ms. Cart enjoys reading, writing, cooking, gardening, and traveling to Mexico, Hawaii, and Ireland. When she is not writing, she can often be found curled up some place snug with a good novel, a cup of hot tea, and a piece of very dark chocolate.
