Acute ischemic stroke is a globally increasing health problem. Calcium plays an important role in the cellular and molecular pathways of ischemic neuronal death. In this case control study, serum calcium, FPG and lipid profile were measured. Then serum calcium was statistically compared with the risk factors of stroke to observe the association. SBP & DBP had significant difference between case and control. BMI was significantly higher in cases than that of controls. Serum calcium level was significantly lower in cases in comparison to controls. Serum calcium level might be a cause of severe clinical symptoms in acute ischemic stroke. The FPG in cases and controls shows a significant difference. Study on lipid profile, Serum TChol, TAG, HDL-C and LDL-C level had significant correlation in cases when compared to controls. Hence there was found association between serum calcium and stroke risk factors.
