In 1833, the young Danish prize-winning naturalist Dr P.W. Lund made a journey into the jungles of Brazil, from which he was destined never to return. Over a period of ten years, he discovered a wealth of fossilized bones, the remains of previously unknown pre-historic animals, while struggling against local insurrections and bouts of ill-health.
