Road transportation and urban development are closely interwoven. All types of urban development including horizontal, vertical and qualitative are influenced by the quality and quantity of transport infrastructure. The book attempts to establish a relationship among various components of urban transportation like road traffic density, accessibility and passenger car units with components of spatial urban development like spatial structure, sprawl and urban form. However, the influence of transportation in shaping urban landscape is universally accepted. It is the time to explore the possibilities of urban development from the prospective of Transport Geography. Thus, the work provides an insight to understand the pattern of spatial urban development from the perspective of road transportation. Present work is based on research entitled Road Transportation and Urban Development: A Case Study of Metropolitan Lucknow from Department of Geography, Lucknow University, India.
