Cornelia H. Dayton is Professor of History at the University of Connecticut and author of Women Before the Bar: Gender, Law, and Society in Connecticut, 1639-1789. Sharon V. Salinger is Dean of the Division of Undergraduate Education and Professor of History at the University of California, Irvine.
