Enormous of power load demands (industry, and nuclear installation) require the power systems to operate efficiently and economically in today¿s strongly competitive environment. In order to achieve these objectives, it is crucial for power control centers to monitor the system operating state accurately. Estimation of the system state (bus voltage magnitude and phase angle) is an essential and practical monitoring tool that has been widely used to estimate other required values for each quantity within energy management systems (EMS) in the control center. This book introduces a new approach based on the synchronized phasor measurement units (PMUs) to solve the power system state estimation problem and check the observability of the metering scheme. The results of state estimation are more accurate, when using phasor measurement units in the complex power systems. The cases studied in the book show the improvement and the enhancement in the estimation process.
