Rodney Charlton Trotter is a fictional character in the BBC sitcom Only Fools and Horses, played by Nicholas Lyndhurst. Rodney's personality was based on the experiences of series creator John Sullivan, who also had an older sibling and, like Rodney, claimed to have been a dreamer and an idealist in his youth. One aspect of Rodney's personality that is explored in many different episodes is that Rodney likes women in uniform, especially policewomen. This is explored first of all in "Go West Young Man" when Rodney tells Del that he was planning to dress his then girlfriend up as a policewoman.
