Roger Rochard (born 20 April 1913 in Evreux February 1993) is a French middle distance runner. He was the first French runner to become a European champion after winning the 5000m track event at the 1934 European Athletics Championships held in Turin, Italy. Stankovics, submitted his idea to the International Federation. During the Congress of IAAF in Berlin, on 24 September 1933 the Federation approved his proposals and Italy hosted the first championships.
