Strengthening the health system is at the core of the Government of Kenya's reform agenda and Ministry of Health and international donor organizations have increasingly acknowledge the role of civil society organizations (CSOs) and communities in strengthening health systems especially in high malaria transmission areas such as Western and Coastal regions of Kenya. CSOs in the high malaria transmission areas play essential role as either service providers or as conduits for service provision and well as advocating for the six WHO building blocks for a stronger, well-functioning and sustainable health system - capable of efficiently delivering and managing health care services in Kenya.
