On the other hand Sri Lankans had to face the same menace for more than three decades. In both the cases the ideology adopted by the two organizations i.e. TTP and LTTE has played an important role in prolonging the movement. Ideology not only lured in the deprived people but also appealed to those living a life of luxury. The thesis also tries to explain what are the ideologies adopted by the aforementioned terrorist organizations. In order to understand the role of ideology in terrorism, this thesis has taken up real life stories of individuals and tries to explain that how a certain set of events pulled them towards picking up arms against the state. This thesis also attempts to give a way forward for the Pakistani government which is currently in a state of war against TTP.

Muhammad Abbas Hassan arbeitet als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Institut für Strategische Studien Islamabad (ISSI). Er hat einen M.Phil. (2015) in IR von der National Defence University, Islamabad, und ist außerdem ein angesehenes Mitglied des World Institute for Nuclear Security, Wien, und des Corbett Centre for Maritime Policy Studies, London.
