Khulna is the third largest city of Bangladesh. Existence of a large number of urban poor is found in many slums in this city. These poor people are living in a very inhumane condition. There living standard is far more degraded due to lack of the basic service facilities. In ward no.21 of Khulna City Corporation there are different clusters of slums. Among them Green Land slum is the largest slum of this ward. There are different government and non-government organization involved in improving basic services for slum dwellers and reducing urban poverty of the slum dwellers. Already UNDP has been completed a project of Local Partnership for Urban Poverty Alleviation for the slum dwellers. The study has examined the working procedure of this project and found out the existing condition of the slum dwellers. The study has been mainly highlighted the role of local partnership project (LPUPAP) for improving urban services for the slum dwellers. Through the study, it is found that thewater supply, infrastructure, drainage system, sanitation facilities is to some extent positive due to local partnership project (LPUPAP).
