In this book, the broad objective is to examine the performance of some selected microinsurance organisations in West Bengal in protecting the interests of the low-income people. The study reveals that microinsurance have proved to be quite effective in bringing about improvements among the low-income people in the study districts. Positive effects that have been noticed including improvement in standard of living, providing education to children, protection against seasonality etc(shown by various Chi-Square tests). But problems persist. The insurance market in these districts is highly concentrated; there are only a few providers that dominate and restrict the entry of others. Although the providers have achieved growth as shown by ANOVA and Factor Analysis.I believe this book contributes in two important ways to the understanding of microinsurance: insight development and current scenario of microinsurance in India. The book targets to model providers and policy makers, academic scholars, and microinsurance pradectitioners in developing and running quality impact assessment in microinsurance.
