The study was conducted to compare the role of head teachers from regular schools and special schools of Karachi as pedagogical leaders. The findings of the study will be useful for those who are responsible for appointing head teachers in schools to be aware of their role as pedagogical leader for school improvement. The results focusing on the relationship between different styles of leadership of head teachers and the schools' performance can also be helpful in establishing the criteria for the selection of head teachers. The results will enable the head teachers to improve their professional competencies enabling them to play their role as effective and efficient pedagogical leader. It was suggested that the head teachers need to identify their leadership styles and need to explore their strength, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges. The professional development programs need to be designed to teach behaviors to head teachers necessary to play effective role as pedagogical leader. The school teachers should be formally prepared to assume the leadership responsibilities in future as the head teachers and they also need to be empowered in democratic learning communities.
