This study examines the role of social media in disseminating information about Nigeria's new Naira design policy. It focuses on identifying the platforms used, evaluating their influence and impact, and analyzing the challenges encountered in their usage. Anchored on the Diffusion of Innovation theory, the research employed a survey methodology with data collected via questionnaires distributed to 400 respondents in Makurdi, Benue State. Key findings reveal that Facebook is the most utilized platform, followed by X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and WhatsApp. Social media proved highly influential in creating public awareness through rapid updates, interactive engagement, and educational campaigns. However, challenges such as poor internet connectivity, high data costs, and limited reach were significant obstacles. The study concludes that social media is an effective tool for disseminating government policies, provided infrastructural issues are addressed. Recommendations include improving internet infrastructure, reducing data costs, and leveraging social media's potential for wider audience engagement.
