This classic work emphasises the properties and calculation of reverberation. It now covers new measurement and simulation techniques, spatial and directional analysis, psychophysical experimental approaches, sound absorption and scattering through wall corrugations; and the design and performance of sound reinforcement systems.

Heinrich Kuttruff is Emeritus Professor and former head of the Institute of Technical Acoustics at RWTH Aachen University, Germany. He has received the Rayleigh Medal from the British Institute of Acoustics, the Helmholtz Medal from the German Society for Acoustics, and the silver medal from the French Society of Acoustics. He is a member of the Göttingen Academy of Sciences, Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Acoustics, and honorary member of the German Society for Acoustics. Michael Vorländer has been Professor of Technical Acoustics at RWTH Aachen University, Germany, since 1996. He has received the Rayleigh Medal from the British Institute of Acoustics, the W.C. Sabine Medal from the Acoustical Society of America, and the EAA award for contribution to promotion of acoustics in Europe from the European Acoustics Association. His main research interests are auralisation and acoustic virtual reality in their various applications in architectural acoustics, the automotive industry, and noise control.
