Sam Allen has been a lawyer for over 25 years, first practicing at a major New York City law firm for eight years, and after that at as a partner in the Corporate Finance section of a major Houston, TX law firm. He has led a colorful life that included fighting in Madison Square Garden and publishing an article about the experience in New York Magazine. His boxing exploits were featured in an article in People Magazine, and he appeared on NBC Nightly News as New York's boxing lawyer. Sam created and operates www.route66mc.com, which is the most complete single source of information available about Route 66 on the web. Sam posts a weekly blog on the website about his adventures on Route 66. Sam has written two books about Route 66. His first book, The Motorcycle Party Guide to Route 66, is the most complete single volume of information available about Route 66. Sam had never been on a motorcycle until he bought his first Harley-Davidson Road King in 2006. Later that year he rode over 3,000 miles from Houston to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and back. Since then, he has been to Sturgis over 10 times and has ridden his bike to virtually every major motorcycle rally in the country. He rides over 20,000 miles a year, and has ridden through all 48 of the Continental United States and over 2,000 miles through Canada. Sam is a member of the Iron Butt Association, which sponsors extreme motorcycle rides, including the "Bun Burner Gold", which requires a rider to cover 1,500 miles in less than 24 hours. He completed two Bun Burner Gold rides in a single month, one of which was from Houston to Washington D.C for the dedication of the World War II Memorial. In 2002, Sam founded the Deacons of Deadwood Motorcycle Club. The Deacons started with 13 businessmen, and now has over 100 members. The Deacons have donated over $2,000,000 to charities benefiting children in the Houston area. He wrote a history of the Club called The Deacons of Deadwood Motorcycle Club.
