After the end of Petrobras' monopoly on the exploration of oil deposits and the establishment of the concession regime through Law 9.478 of August 6, 1997, the bidding process for exploration and mining blocks generated great possibilities for the development of the country's oil industry. The discovery of pre-salt reserves in the Campos, Santos and Espírito Santo basins between 2006 and 2007 boosted the sector's prospects and prompted this paper to develop a quantitative analysis of the collection of royalties from the polygon fields located in the Santos Basin, which have the concession regime as their contract model: Lula, Iracema, Sapinhoá, Lapa and Iara.
