Barbara Thumann-Calderaro lives in New Jersey with her husband, two daughters, and their Maltese dog, Benjamin Franklin. In addition to being the author of the children's book Rudy: Pigs Don't Want to be Bacon! and an animal activist, Barbara is a certified special education teacher and works as an advocate for the deaf and hard of hearing in Montclair, New Jersey. She also teaches sign language at her town's adult school.
