The kid everyone brought their sick pets to, Steve Zell grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, with a backyard that eventually resembled a small zoo. He spent many of his childhood summers as a "Zoni" in the beach communities near San Diego, communities he combined in creating Running Cold's, La Vista. A former cartoonist, animator, and session vocalist in Los Angeles, he now haunts coffee houses in the mythic environs of Portlandia...
