Since independence, the Government of India (GoI) initiated several five years plans, programmes, policies and laws, has made efforts to eradicate rural poverty, but still remain the weakest sections of the society, various five years plans, there has been considerable increasing in the fund allocation for SC and ST development, but most of schemes, not able to draw benefits from the facilities provided by government because of corruption and improper implementation. Employment Guarantee Scheme like MGNREGA is perceived as a part of the Sustainable asset creation, which aims at reducing social and economic inequalities by providing gainful employment opportunities in the rural areas. The study that the MGNREGA is improving socio-economic conditions of the beneficiaries in select districts, improving Women Empowerment in social and political activities, and creating ssustainable assets in select districts through employment of MGNREGA scheme.
