Knowledge of flavours: food and cultural identity in the sertanejo. Food can be understood as a tool for revealing the cultural genesis of a people. Through food, we learn historical, economic, geographical and social fragments capable of moulding the imaginary and collective manifestations of cultural systems. Historical formation, the role of memory in preserving traditions and the links with post-modernity are the objects of this work. The book also deals with stereotypes and the non-place of the sertanejo: their problem of belonging in the cultural representation of Bahia.
