The Sacandaga River is a tributary of the Hudson River and enters the Hudson across from Lake Luzerne, at the border of Saratoga County and Warren County. The Sacandaga River's headwaters are north of Sacandaga Lake in the Town of Lake Pleasant, New York. From Sacandaga Lake, the river follows a short, slow moving path known as the Sacandaga Outlet (under New York Route 8) into Lake Pleasant. The water from Sacandaga River drains Lake Pleasant at a small outlet next to the public beach in the Village of Speculator. The River then follows a winding, slow moving path through wetlands and various ecosystems. In Speculator, a park with a series of boardwalks and pathways follows the course of the river. The park is known as the Sacandaga River Community Park, and was built by local volunteers.
