Whilst the use of medical devices is increasing, incidence of device-related Health Care Associated Infection(HAI)are increasing as well, with Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections(CAUTI)cited as one of the most common negative consequences in Home Health Care Services. Although HAI are commonly associated with inpatients, many patients are faced with the medical necessity of utilizing indwelling catheters in the home care setting, giving rise to a new population of patients experiencing device-related HAI, and in particular CAUTI. Therefore, to reach this population with an identified need within the patient care profiles of the Home care Services, the current project demonstrated a comprehensive approach to the implementation of a physical reminder system a sticker protocol designed to reduce incidence of CAUTI and effectively manage patients with indwelling catheters. Finally, the current project will place Home Care service in the role of leader in CAUTI management and prevention protocols when final evaluations are received, analyzed, and the final stage in the IHI Model spreading the change is initiated.
