The station is 32.4 rail kilometers from the Odawara Line''s terminal at Shinjuku Station and is the terminus of the Enoshima Line. Sagami- no Station began on April 1, 1929 as the Sagami- no Signal. It was upgraded to a full station on April 1, 1938 as the Ts shin-Gakk Station, being named after the nearby Army Telecommunication School (Rikugun Ts shin-Gakk ). It was renamed to its present name on January 1, 1941 amid the counter-intelligence movement of eliminating the names of military facilities from maps.. Work began on the new station complex from September 1, 1996.
