1873. Kalmouk and Mongolian traditionary tales with historical preface and explanatory notes. The origin and migrations of myths have been the subject of much sifting and study, the elaborate results of which are already before the world, but for the first time put into English. These tales come directly from the Far East and in most of them nothing further has been aimed at than the amusement of a people indisposed by climate, natural temperament or want of cultivation from finding recreation in the healthy exercise of mental effort.
