Sgr X-7 has a visual counterpart, V691 CrA, and both are at J2000 RA 18h 25m 46.81s Dec -37° 06 18.6 . This LMXB has been observed by Ariel 5, HEAO 1, INTEGRAL, ROSAT, SAS-2, and Uhuru. It was subsequently observed before August 27, 1973, at 3U 1744-26, and before January 12, 1974, at 4U 1744-26. Although designated as the first X-ray source to be detected and confirmed in the constellation Sagittarius, it was not. Sagittarius XR-1 was detected earlier on June 16, 1964.
