It is known for the Gallagher Flint Station Archeological Site which was discovered during the construction of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. North Slope Borough is a borough located largely in the North Slope region of the U.S. state of Alaska. As of the 2000 census, the population was 7,385. The borough seat is Barrow. The borough has a total area of 94,763 square miles (245,436 km²), of which, 88,817 square miles (230,035 km²) of it is land and 5,946 square miles (15,399 km²) of it (6.27%) is water.
