In conjunction with the evolution of language, technology, and communication, there has also been a concomitant advancement in these areas. In the colonial era, the transmission of news and information was facilitated by the use of various communication tools, including mail, newspapers, and magazines. Subsequently, our society progressed to encompass mass media and communication, including radio and television. In the contemporary era, the advent of new technologies and the globalisation of information have resulted in the formation of a vast and interconnected information society. Information and technology have become integral components of contemporary life. In the past twenty-five years, social media has become a significant component of our mass media and communication culture, disseminating information through the Internet and mobile networks. The rapid growth in the reach of social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and WhatsApp has been more pronounced than that of traditional mass media outlets like newspapers, radio, and television. The second decade of the 21st century presents a multitude of opportunities and challenges for media and communication on a global scale. In recent years, there has been considerable concern in Western countries, particularly in American civil society and the academic community, that digital media companies may pose a threat to democracy. In light of these concerns, the Government of India has also been highly active in the control and regulation of digital media. However, there is a divergence of opinion among observers with regard to the question of disciplinary and regulatory measures. Indeed, this predicament is observed among the Indian public with regard to both social media and mainstream media. In contemporary capitalist society, the concept of "network" is fundamental to the formation of connections and relationships. This concept is also central to the notion of globalization. Globalization, facilitated by networks such as the Internet, enables the spread of language and culture through markets. English has emerged as a dominant language in this global or international market. However, sociologists and scholars of globalization contend that this culture of globalization encounters resistance from local cultures.
