If there is a verve that has freed Lyricism from all the shackles of rhetoric and allowed it to renew itself, according to human inclinations, both in form and in content, it is indeed that of Saint-John Perse. This poet drew, without restriction, from all the cultural heritage of humanity in order to aggregate the past with the present. With him, the Lyricism took off to present wonderfully, a rhapsody celebrating religiously the Being and the Universe. Thus his poems-songs became, well and truly, the living incarnation of the universal Man in his global Context. A modern re-enchanter of an absurd existence, Saint-John Perse, thanks to his singing poetry, was able to recompose, in harmony and fidelity, the paradisiacal world of his childhood, namely Guadeloupe.
